Review 2021 – IBUG-festival in pictures

Dear visitors,

In 2021, the festival for urban art „ibug“ – short for „Industriebrachenumgestaltung“ (industrial wasteland redevelopment) – held its 16th edition in the old coloured paper factory in Flöha, Saxony.

It was our second special edition, which we were able to realise despite the pandemic.

We are especially happy about the endless encouragement and the nice comments during the festival on the part of the visitors. A huge thank you also goes to the city of Flöha for the very good cooperation. Almost 12,000 (twelve thousand!) people visited us this year and were able to discover this year’s ibug site for themselves on three consecutive weekends and during a separate school and education week.

Thank You!

We shed a lot of sweat, tears, and blood to make this year’s ibug festival happen despite all the Corona odds.
Countless hardworking and tireless helpers have supported us this year and given their all. For this we would like to thank all of you helpers very much, because without you an ibug of this kind would not be possible.

You and the many visitors have shown us that all the efforts and expenses were worth it.

Many, many thanks!

Virtual tour

As a small thank-you gift, we would now like to make ibug 2021 accessible to everyone on our website: We have created a virtual tour that invites you to discover and browse. You can find additional information, pictures and videos about the artworks by clicking on them. For all those who like to explore, we have hidden further content for you to find. We also want to thank CURA 3D for the very nice co-work.

Have fun and hopefully see you soon at ibug 2022!

Best regards – Your ibug team

Factory Stories – Contemporary Witnesses Documentation

We are happy to announce that the ibug team is actively supported by filmmaker MARTIN LANGHOF since 2019. In addition to individual videos on the artists and their works Martin has also presented a special film this year. In a very sensitive time document he lets former employees talk. The film „Factory Stories“ shows them at their old workplaces. They lead us through the old factory from their very own perspective, tell us about their past and give us a unique insight into the everyday life of the VEB Buntpapierfabrik Flöha-Plaue.

On behalf of the entire ibug team, we would like to thank all of you who shared your experiences with us. Your stories have touched us all deeply.

A big thank you also goes to our numerous friends who never get tired to take pictures. Here we would like to show you a small selection of photos taken by our year-long colleagues Susan Fankhänel, Jan Thau and Matthias Wolf. Thank you all!

Some impressions from the workshop we did with schools after the festival. After the tour around the building they could take part in a small book binding workshop. The used materials were from the factory.
